Gain a global view of my apiaries remotely.
Regardless of the distance, the number of my apiaries and hives, if I am a transhumant or not, I can consult my hives’ latest activity—whenever and wherever I want. The weight measurements reveal the trend of the last few days, and they allow me to make the decision to intervene as soon as the honey starts to flow, or if more feeding is necessary. I can record reports of hive or apiary visits to keep track, and the system adapts to my approach to the hive or apiaries. To prevent all this work from being lost to thieves, a GPS anti-theft system alerts me in the event the hive is moved.
Thanks to the complete absence of wires and solar panels, and the incorporation of light material, installation is very simple and can be done on one’s own. For a scale, we will simply tip the hive to slide the scale and then block the opposite side. For the GPS, no frame to change—we cut the wax and we set the box inside, since it’s completely compatible with food contact.
The BeeGuard solution is easily scalable because it is modular. The use of a single transmitter for all the scales of an apiary avoids additional communication costs, data usage, and so on. The transmitter also has an additional function: weather station or anti-theft/temperature.
The activity data measured every hour and communicated twice a day is available from anywhere, and at any time. Beekeepers can thus modify their trip scheduling to be more efficient and synchronized with the needs of their bees. On average, you can expect 10% fewer trips.
The hives are monitored via motion sensors. Beekeepers are alerted in case of a problem, but of course they’re often too far away to intervene.
That's why the GPS hive alarm will automatically provide the path of a stolen hive, right up to its arrival point. Alert, route, and arrival point are all fundamental information so authorities can quickly intervene.
